Okay so all plans for the weekend b4 played out pretty nicely got to do most of the stuff i wanted. Hospital called on saturday miday and told me to be at the hospital for 8:15am and surgery would be 3hrs post so round 11am would be when i get the surgery. The night b4 i thought i would be really nervous about everything and strangly i wasnt i was just nervous about the pain but the surgery and everything else i wasnt i slept like a baby.
Woke up Monday morning last min just to brush my teeth throw on some loose cloths and grab my bag n get in the car because im not aloud to eat or drink anything so i didnt want to be up for a long time so i got hungry or anything. Got to the hospital i admitted myself and then went to pre-op for preping b4 surgery. My mom dad aunty baby and cousin alycia were there with me for about the 3hrs that it took to prep me. Just basically slip into a hospital gown, take some pills and get a few injections then just had to sit and wait to be called up. Everyone seemed pretty nervous except for me, I just felt that i had nothing to worry about i trusted that God had me and he would be with me and get me through everything.
It was my turn around 11am to be taken upstairs for the last min paperwork i had to sign and the risks that had to be explained to me again etc etc all that stuff took about another hr i didnt go into the operating room until about 12-1pm. So i signed what i needed to sign etc and we got started. First thing was to get an IV started so got that done which was pretty painful i might add. Then i got half sedated to get an epidural inserted into my back which was even more painful, a needle the size of north america being shoved in your back right between your spinal cord is not the most comfortable thing to experience i feel. Then they layed me back down on the operating table as the epidural was properly in place and knocked me out with some gas lol
Next thing i remember is was waking up in the recovery room with a tube down my throat, i kind of went to sleep again and woke up a bit later and the tube was gone but i was on oxygen. Once i was fully concious i was rolled out to my unit where i would be staying for the next few days. I also woke up with a catheter, chest tube and circulation stockings on. so i couldnt move a muscle really and i couldnt feel my body it was pretty funny. But come a few hrs later i was not laughing due to intense pain and soreness. bearlying being able to move my right side because of the surgery and chest tube. The next morning they removed the catheter and the circulation stockings later that day they also removed the chest tube in my side. I was released on the wednesday morning!! I was suppose to be in the hospital for 3days min and be released like thursday friday and got out days earlier lol I even had to request to stay the second night!! And i also did not like the nurses or the service at the Royal Alex at all i was not impressed and was really very disappointed.
Anyway they put me on oxycodone as my pain meds and told me all my post surgery care info and i was off home to recover. It was pretty hard moving around the house with only really being able to use one arm and im right handed so it was even harder to use my left for everything. I got no sleep at night it was so painful and then all day i would get visitors with good intentions but at the end of the day i was exhausted and try to sleep still wouldnt get any and the same routine would take place over and over again for about a week!!
Its the 9th now and ive been able to catch up on some sleep and the pain is alright ive managable without painmeds and the soreness im getting used to. Its still hard to take deep breaths and coughing sneezing or laughing hard really hurts still but its slowly getting better. At the moment been off pain meds for two days now hoping i can stay off of them for a while.
